How to Enter Your Top-Up Code
These instructions apply to Landis+Gyr smart prepayment meters with green and grey buttons, and a communications hub attached above, below, or to the side.
Step-by-step:
- Press button A repeatedly until you reach the “Add Credit” screen.
- Press button B to enter the code screen.
You’ll see a series of asterisks (*) and the word “Code.”
- The first asterisk will flash.
- Press button A to scroll through numbers 0–9.
- Stop when the correct number is displayed.
(There may be a slight delay when changing numbers.)
- Press button B to move to the next digit.
- Repeat steps 3–4 until you’ve entered all 20 digits of your top-up code.
If you make a mistake:
- Continue entering numbers until all 20 digits are complete.
- Then press button B repeatedly to move back to the incorrect digit and correct it.
Confirming your code:
- Once all digits are correct, press and hold button B for a few seconds to submit the code.
Error messages you may see:

“Credit Already Used”
The code has already been entered, or the credit is already on your meter. -
“Invalid Code”
The code doesn’t match your meter. This may happen if:- You entered a gas meter code instead of electricity (or vice versa), or
- The code belongs to another meter
You can try up to 5 times within 10 minutes. After that, you’ll be locked out for 1 hour before you can try again.
How to Turn Your Electricity Back On
If your electricity has gone off because you’ve run out of credit, you’ll need to top up or use your emergency credit first. For safety, the meter will ask you to confirm before restoring your supply.
Follow these steps:
- Press button A to access the main menu.
- The screen will display “Press B for Elec.”
Press button B. - The screen will show “En Supply, A = No, B = Yes.”
Press button B to confirm. - The screen will display “Supply Enabled.”
This means your electricity supply has been successfully restored.
