Effective from 23 February 2026
Last year, Ofgem consulted on the introduction of four Guaranteed Standards of Performance (‘Guaranteed Standards’) relating to smart meter installations and communication issues. These have now been confirmed and are listed below and will be paid automatically.
Installation appointment availability
If you request a first time/new smart meter installation appointment, Outfox Energy must offer the you an appointment to take place within six weeks of the request being made, otherwise you will receive compensation of £40.
Failed installations
If a smart meter installation fails due to a fault within control of Outfox Energy, you will receive compensation of £40.
Investigating smart meter operational issues
If you report a problem with your smart meter, Outfox Energy must complete an initial assessment, take an appropriate action and offer to update you, within 5 working days, otherwise you will receive compensation of £40.
