When you switch supplier, you are given a cooling off period. This is a 14-day window at the beginning of your contract in case you change your mind about the service you have signed up for.
If you do want to cancel your contract within your cooling off period, you won't be penalised for doing so, although there are a few things you should know first.
When does my cooling off period start?
Your cooling off period begins the day after you agree to switch to us. You have 14 days from that date to change your mind.
If I change my mind during the cooling-off period, will this have any impact on me?
We are part of the Faster Switching promise which means it only takes around 7 days for it to be completed. This means your switch will take place within the 14-day cooling-off period.
To prevent your switch from happening, you need to contact us before 16:30, at least one working day before that date.
For example:
1. If your switch is on Monday, you'll need to contact us by 16:30 on Thursday to prevent your switch.
2. If your switch is on Wednesday, you'll need to contact us by 16:30 on Monday to prevent your switch.
If you wish to cancel after your supply has switched, please contact us. Once you have contacted us, you have 15 working days to complete one of the following steps:
1. You can agree a new contract with us.
2. You can switch back to your old supplier on 'equivalent terms', meaning similar terms and conditions to those you had before you left them. Your previous supplier is required to offer this to you if you ask for it within 16 working days of your switch date.
You'll need to ask your old supplier to switch your energy supply back to them in this case.
3. You can agree a new contract with a different supplier. You'll need to contact a new supplier and ask them to switch your supply to them.
Check out the timeline below to see how this works:
Rest assured, as long as you are in the 14-day cooling-off period, there are no exit fees for switching your tariff or supplier.
Please note: We will bill you for the energy consumption and standing charges for your short stay with us.
